11-30-17

Attention 9th grade English I will be revising the Final Exam Review Guide for next week.  Unit 5 and the Essential Question will stay the same. Feel free to start working ahead on the Unit 5 and Essential Question work. However, I will be taking off "Traveling" and adding Unit 3 Research in its place.  Please work on your chart.

Homework: Extra Credit is due 11/28/17 (EVEN) and 11/29/17 (ODD) See Google classroom for the handout and handouts are in the classroom on the student table. Do workbook page 340 Close Read the Text (Annotate) Analyze the Text (1 and 3), and Concept Vocabulary (Practice only.) Due today:   Late/Absent (Home Connection question answers + page 298 essay) Essay page 690 (Late last chance or revisions) If you type and have internet access then use turnitin.com. Monday, November 20th, 2017 and Tuesday, November 21st, 2017

Homework: 1. Submit your recorded Newscast video to Google classroom before next class period starts or present in front of the class next class period. 2. Page 690 Essay Revisions: Due next class period (11/22 EVEN and 11/27 ODD) You can write on the essay to revise, attach notebook paper or turn it in to turnitin.com (Revisions section). This includes late submissions due to the library being closed at lunch on Tuesday for the Faculty Feast. 3. Extra Credit (See Google classroom.) This is due 11/28 (EVEN) and 11/29 (ODD) Agenda: Absent: Do your page 298 (in-class essay) Priority 1. Newscasts (Practice) 2. Revise or do page 690 essay. 3. Pass out graded papers.

Friday, November 17th, 2017 (ODD)

Homework: 1. page 690 late essay due 11/27/17. Revision time will be available next class period. I will bring your essays with comments to help with revisions. Newscasts will be done in class on Monday, November 21st or must be recorded and turned into Google classroom by Monday, November 21st. See Google classroom for more details. 3. Thursday, November 16th, 2017

I will accept this with no penalty until next class period. Note: Sub day (Review  page 296 next class period when I will be there.) Homework: Letter Home (Do Talk It Over With Your Student - the second questions only) Write answers on notebook paper. Talk to a guardian and record your answers on notebook paper or if you prefer then type to share with me digitally. Newscast (page 297 in your workbook) Top section only. (Writing) Be sure to follow the prompt. Only the written is due next class period.Who? What? When? Where? Why? Use third person. Length is depending on fulfilling the directions. Due today:  Last chance to turn in listening Turn in your four squares for your First Read/Media paper. Turn in early Newscasts.  Agenda: 1. Review four squares first read and page 296. 2. Prepare a newscast on notebook paper from directions at the top of page 297. (Written only.) See Google classroom for the transcript. Pairs are acceptable. (Max 2)

Agendas for 11-7-17 (EVEN) and 11-8-17 (ODD)

Homework: Finish the agenda if you do not finish in class. Agenda: "I Have a Dream" Quiz make-ups for absences 1. Chromebook: Naviance (Career Cluster Assignment) There is a video in Google classroom about Naviance and taking the Career Cluster Quiz. I will show this video in class, but if absent you can see it out of class or watch again in class. If you are in class then take the quiz and show me your results. If you are absent then take the quiz, copy the results (top three categories) into a Google Doc and share with me. 2. Listen to "Remarks on the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr." (The link for this is also in Google classroom.) Listen once and take notes on workbook page 295. Then, fill out your First Read Guide. Then, listen again and do all of workbook page 296 (all three parts). Have this completed for next class period. Due today: Listening packet - ALL (period 6 has one more day, if needed, due to copies.)
