Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 (ODD)

Homework: 1. Signature sheet for your independent reading book (biography, autobiography, or memoir) Due next class (February 1st) 2. Read Romeo and Juliet Act I, scene ii and iii (if not finished after the quiz) Update your chart. 3. Character Chart (Have the relationship and personality section filled out for all characters who appear in Act I, scene i, ii and iii.) Due today: Review for Quiz Agenda 1. Review for Quiz (Turn this into me via Google classroom or hardcopy.) 2. Quiz (Open Book ) pages 366-371 (Historical Background) 3. Turn in quiz and start reading Act I, scene ii independently. 4. Copy down summaries for Act I, scene ii and iii to help you with homework. 5. Work on your Act I chart and character chart.

New Late work deadlines and policy

** Updated (1/31/18)Shakespeare Letters will be taken late for half credit until February 2nd and February 5th. Counterargument papers, counterargument paragraphs and grammar will be taken half credit until February 2nd (EVEN) and February 5th (ODD). After these dates have past, a zero will remain in Infinite Campus. Since I did not clarify this with the Coat of Arms assignment, late ones turned in until February 9th (end of this grading period) will be marked turned in and not be given any points. Please plan ahead for future assignments.

1/25/18 and 1/26/18

Homework: 1. Study for your open book background notes quiz (pages 366-371) next class. (1-29 EVEN and 1-30 ODD) 2. Autobiography or Biography signature sheet (Due on 1/31 for EVEN and 2/1 for ODD) 3. Make sure your Act I chart is completely filled out for Act I, scene i. Due today: Counterargument (#2, #3 and #4)  + Paragraph from one (6 sentences minimum)   Grammar  Agenda 1. Read Act I, scene i (workbook page 378.) 2. Friday, January 19th and Monday, January 22nd

Extension for Counterargument: Due on 1/25 for EVEN and 1/26 for ODD. Homework: 1. Finish the agenda if you did not in class.  2. (See Google classroom for the counterargument handout.) Complete all the practice on the backside. 3. Choose one practice topic to write a paragraph. (Minimum 6 sentences.) See Google classroom for more detailed directions. Due today: Letter K (on Shakespearean Language Tips sheet) Agenda: 1. Check a-j. Shakespeare Language Tips 2. Prologue Translation (lines 1-7). Challenge yourself and try to do them all. 3. Check answers to Prologue Translation. 4. Counterargument practice (Front side) 5. Drama Terms (Define all words on the backside of the first page.) We'll start filling out examples next class period.

Wednesday, January 17th and Thursday, January 18th

Homework: 1. Finish Shakespearean Language Tips (a-j) if not done in class. 2. Letter to Friend (K on Shakespearean Language Tips Sheet (Use a separate sheet of paper to turn in from today's agenda or use Google classroom.) Be sure to underline, circle or highlight the  Shakespearean requirements. 3. Late or Absent Course orientation signature sheets Agenda: Use a notebook or sheet of paper for all classwork today. 1. Shakespearean Circle Map (Make a circle map of 6+ facts about Shakespeare.) Use the Green textbook pages 766 and 767 2. DOK 3 Background Notes research Choose a DOK 3 question to research. Write the question and answer on the same paper or notebook as your Shakespeare Circle Map. 3. Shakespearean Language Tips (a-j) Next class: Prologue Translation, Counterargument Practice     Due today:  Course orientation signature sheets (ALL signatures are needed along with the top section completed.)

Friday, January 12th, 2018 and Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

Homework: Course orientation signature sheet due on 1/17/18 for EVEN and 1/18/18 for ODD Due today: Coat of Arms (Use Google classroom for digital submissions.) Handouts: KWL chart (See Google classroom.) Agenda: 1. Fill out your Word Network on page 361. Then, make a final copy with at least 8 ways to describe destiny on white paper. Use pen and or colors. See samples on the bulletin boards. 2. KWL chart  Topic: Background notes for pages 368-371 K (Write down what you know about Theater, Shakespeare or that time period. Feel free to glance at pictures and titles of sections to see if you are familiar with any of them.) W (Write two DOK 3 Questions or one DOK 3 and a I want to know more about ___________ statement.) L (Write down at least five facts you learned from this reading.) Be ready to share out in class. 3. Class discussion on notes. Take notes.

January 10th (Late start) + January 11th

Homework: * Read and annotate pages 366 and 367 in your workbook if you did not finish during class. See directions below on the agenda. 1. Coat of Arms is due next class period. Course orientation: Fill out what you can on the backside signature sheet. Prepare questions for discussion. 2. Sign up for Google classroom. See me for the code. 3. Log into Pearson to get participation points for completing the Mid Year assessment. (Directions are in Google classroom.) 4. Do Mid Year Assessment 5. Review course orientation. Ask questions. 6. Annotate pages 366 and 377 in your workbook. (Highlight important information, write summaries, comments and at least one DOK 3 question.)
