Sub. Day (EVEN) August 28th, 2017 - Note updates to clarify more in italics.

Homework: Read your Independent Reading book for 20 minutes and be ready for questions next class period.

Warm-up: Write about a vacation you took in the last five years or would like to take in the next five years. What did you see? Write where you went and what you saw in detail. (Minimum 5 sentences) Stamping will be next class period.

Due today: Journey Haiku Poems (unless absent) Turn in unless you already submitted to Google classroom. Also turn in any late or absent work to the sub.

Agenda:
  1. Warm-up: Vacation Prompt
  2. Share out your notes (Students may use phones as copies are in Google classroom.) pages 552-559 in your workbook
  3. Write a summary of your notes and or what you learned on a new sheet of notebook paper and turn that into the sub. (Minimum 6 sentences.) Write down the five questions you are most curious about from your notes and or five questions you have about the section (pages 552-559) not answered in your notes.

    You may use I. Also, if you did not submit this in class yesterday I am making this an option in Google classroom if you want to type.
    Questions for your self-reflection summary (if needed):
    What did you learn?
    What do you still wonder?
    What did you think? 
  4. Do the vocabulary on page 558 in your workbook.
  5. Start reading on page 561. Annotate. Underline or highlight important information. Write comments and questions. Answer questions on page 563 and 566.  We’ll discuss this next class. (Students probably will only read up to page 567.)
  6. Draw a picture on the back of your summary of what you think the Lotus and the Cyclops looks like.

Homework: Be sure your annotations are done so you can start your paragraph next class period. 1. Study for your Act IV Quiz next class (I recommend that you annotate as it is open book.) 2.
